Sensis to Supply Weather Data Extractors for AN/TPS-70 Radars

DEWITT, NY - October 2, 2000 - Sensis Corporation will supply Raytheon Command, Control, Communication and Information Systems of Bellevue, NE with weather data extractors for AN/TPS-70 radars as part of the Digital Weather Intelligence Data (DWID) Program for the United States Air Force. The program is designed to increase the radar surveillance coverage of South America. The extractors will provide digital weather data including radar site coordinates and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) time stamp in CD-2 compatible format. The extractor will automatically eliminate anomalous propagation ground clutter from the radar return signal for accurate weather detection reports. The installed equipment will require minimal modifications to the radar and operate autonomously. Sensis is responsible for installation, checkout, testing and logistics support of weather extractors and data interface devices. The contract is for a total of 6 radar sites with options for 4 additional sites plus data integration equipment at weather operations centers.
