Sensis Launches Aerobahn Airside Operations Toolbox For Streamlining
Airport and Airline Operations
Fraport AG To Serve As Beta Customer
DEWITT, NY – February 18, 2003 – Sensis Corporation today launched Aerobahn®, a powerful toolbox for airport and airline users responsible for airside operations. Designed to facilitate proactive, tactical management of airport airside operations, Aerobahn includes Ground Operations, Operations Control and Analysis, and Asset Tracking offerings which will enable users to view, monitor, and quantifiably measure operations in real-time as well as analyze them after the fact. Concurrent with the product announcement, Sensis Corporation announced that Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport, has agreed for the airport to serve as a beta site for Aerobahn, assisting Sensis in further tailoring the toolbox for use by airport operators. Further, in the upcoming months, Sensis plans to announce airlines that will serve as beta customers.
“Airlines and airports increasingly appreciate the value of monitoring, measuring and analyzing their operations – both in real-time and historically,” said Marc Viggiano, president of Sensis’ Air Traffic Systems Division. “Aerobahn was designed to support these needs.”
Aerobahn interfaces to multiple aviation data sources, collects surveillance, flight plan and weather data, correlates and interprets the data to extract useful information and presents this information in a user-configured format. Aerobahn’s real-time event recognition captures accurate milestone data for each flight and distributes it to stakeholders, facilitating Gate-to-Gate management of airline and airport resources. Additionally, Aerobahn provides users with the ability to playback selected operational events, collect detailed historical data, and perform comprehensive trend analyses in support of root cause investigation, auditing and long-term planning.
“Efficiency and capacity are essential elements of Frankfurt Airport’s operation. Aerobahn will help us to identify those areas where airport operations can be further streamlined and improved,” said Michael Huhnold, project manager of Fraport. “We view Aerobahn as another example of Sensis generating innovative solutions to real-world airport problems.”
Recognizing the complexity of most airlines’ and airports’ information technology infrastructure, Aerobahn leverages proven Internet technologies to ease deployment, minimize maintenance, simplify support and reduce the overall cost of ownership. Aerobahn’s structure is extremely scalable, easily accommodating many distinct data sources and a large numbers of users. The product also features a variety of information security features for strict control of data access and information assurance.
“The Internet boom yielded many powerful new technologies that have become ubiquitous,” said Viggiano. “Aerobahn leverages these technologies, enabling organizations to improve their effectiveness by providing timely and reliable information to distributed decision makers.”
Aerobahn is fully compatible with Sensis Corporation’s airport surveillance products, including the Multistatic Dependent Surveillance system, Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast ground station, Multi-sensor Data Processor and the VeeLo® vehicle location unit. These proven technologies, when bundled with Aerobahn, provide robust asset tracking of aircraft and vehicle operations.
Aerobahn will be generally available in Q2 2003.
