Sensis A-SMGCS Operational at India’s Capital Airport

EAST SYRACUSE, NY – September 18, 2006 – Sensis Corporation announced that its Advanced – Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi is operational. Sensis A-SMGCS is providing air traffic controllers at IGI with improved situational awareness and conflict alerting in all weather conditions.

“The strong partnership between Sensis and Airports Authority of India, the air navigation service provider for IGI, has enabled Sensis A-SMGCS at IGI to become operational within 12 months of contract award,” said Marc Viggiano, president, Sensis Air Traffic Systems.

Sensis A-SMGCS, designed from the start to meet A-SMGCS Level 2 functionality, fuses multiple surveillance sources for the highest quality data and coverage even in the most complex airport environment: one-second update rate multilateration; X-band radar with state of the art radar data processor; and an ADS-B vehicle tracking system. This data is integrated by the system’s robust Multi-Sensor Data Processor (MSDP) which leverages the strengths of each individual sensor for the most accurate indication of target location. The MSDP also incorporates advanced conflict detection and alerting functionality, providing audible and visual alerts for potentially dangerous aircraft and vehicle situations. This data is presented as an integrated picture on a display that was developed in consultation with air traffic controllers.

At IGI, Sensis A-SMGCS is also providing taxi route conformance monitoring to ensure that aircraft are conforming to their assigned route. Air traffic controllers receive an alert when an aircraft deviates from its assigned route.

Sensis A-SMGCS in New Delhi further expands the company’s presence in the Asia Pacific region. The company recently announced that it has received contracts from Airservices Australia to provide Sensis A-SMGCS to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney Airports and to provide a wide area multilateration system to Tasmania. Further, Sensis’ multilateration system is deployed at Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok).

In the U.S., Sensis A-SMGCS is currently operational at eight and being deployed to a total of 35 U.S. airports. Additionally, Sensis’ multilateration, a key component of its next-generation A-SMGCS, is the most field-proven in the industry, with nine of the 10 busiest airports in Europe relying on the technology for surface surveillance.
