Sensis to Develop Modeling and Simulation Capabilities for NASA NextGen Research

EAST SYRACUSE, NY – June 30, 2009 – Sensis Corporation, under contract to Raytheon Company, will support ongoing enhancements to the system-wide modeling and simulation capability in NASA's Airspace Concepts Evaluation Systems (ACES). The NASA Ames contract, "ACES Enhancement and Support," supports the ongoing research and development of NextGen air traffic management concepts.

ACES is NASA's real-time computer simulation tool that analyzes local, regional and national aviation and air traffic management factors that contribute to the performance of aircraft operations, from gate departures and complete dynamic flight paths to landings and gate arrivals. In use at NASA Ames since 2001, ACES is a highly realistic approximation of the National Airspace System (NAS) that has continually evolved to meet the needs of researchers. Sensis is responsible for building plug-and-play modeling and simulation software tools that will be used to evaluate the effects of emerging concepts on the NAS.

In addition to Sensis, members of the Raytheon ACES team include Aerospace Computing, Inc., Intelligent Automation, Inc., Mosaic ATM and PDA Associates.
